Coming soon · National pilot car registry

Find a Pilot Car Driver
— Anywhere in the US.

Find Pilot Car Driver is the national registry of pilot car operators across the United States — a single place to locate available drivers for oversize-load escorts, lead and chase car work, route surveys, and high-pole runs in any state. Built by working pilot car operators, for the people who need them. Launching soon — join the waitlist below.

Sister site to magicvalleypiloting.com · Built by a working pilot car operator.
Two sides, one network

A registry built for the people on both ends of the call.

For Operators

Get found by shippers who need your rig.

List your services, set your own rates, and connect with shippers and carriers across the country. The registry is built around how pilot car operators actually work — not how a tech company thinks you should.

  • Set your own rates. Mileage, day, flat — structure them however the run calls for. No platform forcing a pricing model.
  • List your full service mix. Lead, chase, route survey, oversize, high-pole — whatever you run.
  • Multi-state coverage in one profile. Carry certifications for multiple states? One profile shows every place you can roll.
  • Direct contact with shippers. They call you. No phone tree, no per-job platform cut.
  • Built by an operator. The person designing this runs a pilot car too. He knows what’s broken because he has lived it.
For Shippers & Carriers

Find a pilot car operator anywhere in the US.

Search by state, route, service type, or load dimensions. See who’s actually available, contact them directly, and book the run. The directory the industry has needed for years.

  • Search every state. One database, every operator who lists. No more calling around to half a dozen regional directories.
  • Filter by what you need. Service type, load profile, certifications, route. Find operators who match the job.
  • Real availability. Operators keep their own status — you see who’s actually open for the dates you need.
  • Direct contact. Talk to the operator, not a dispatcher relaying messages. Fewer translation errors, faster scheduling.
  • Free for shippers. No subscription. No per-search fee. Just find your pilot car.
How it works

Three steps. Either side of the call.

If you run a pilot car
01

Create your profile

Tell the network who you are, what you run, which states you’re certified in, what services you offer, and how you prefer to be contacted.

02

Set rates and availability

Standard mileage, day, flat — whichever fits each kind of run. Keep your availability calendar up to date so shippers see real openings.

03

Shippers find you. Direct.

When a shipper searches for what you offer where you run, your profile shows up. They contact you directly. You book the run. Done.

If you need a pilot car
01

Search the route

Start with the state or route. Filter by service type, load dimensions, certifications. See the operators who match.

02

Compare profiles

Each operator’s page shows services, rates, coverage, contact info, certifications, equipment, and ratings from prior shippers.

03

Contact and book direct

Call, text, or message the operator. Confirm the run on terms that work. No middleman, no markup, no third-party in the loop.

Why this, why now

The pilot car industry deserves better tools.

Pilot car work currently runs on personal networks, word-of-mouth referrals, outdated regional directories, and Facebook groups. Shippers spend hours calling around. Operators miss leads because they’re not in the right list at the right time.

Every other trucking-adjacent business has been digitized. Load boards. Broker networks. Telematics. Yet pilot car operators — independent owner-operators running specialized work — are still treated like a back-office afterthought.

Find Pilot Car Driver fixes that. A real directory, real search, real operator profiles. Built by someone in the industry who’s tired of watching the system fail both sides.

Built by an operator, not a tech firm.

This is a sister site to Magic Valley Piloting — an active, working pilot car service based in Gooding, Idaho. Same operator. Same standards. The registry is the systematization of how he already coordinates with other pilots.

Operators come first. No per-job skim.

Other platforms take a percentage of every job. We won’t. The cost model: free during beta, then a flat operator membership at a fair price. Shippers search free, always.

Independent. No VC, no private equity.

Independently funded and operated. No outside pressure to extract value from operators or rush-ship features. The roadmap answers to operators and shippers, not investors.

Early access

Both sides of the pilot car business.

Whether you run a pilot car or hire one, the registry connects you to the rest of the network. Get notified when each side opens for sign-ups.

Tell us who you are

We’ll only email about the registry launch. No newsletters, no resale.

Frequently asked

Questions we keep getting.

When will Find Pilot Car Driver launch?
Active development right now. Operator-side beta is the first milestone — we want a solid base of listed operators before opening the shipper side. Anyone on the waitlist gets notified the moment each side opens, with operators getting first access to claim their profile.
Will operators have to pay to list?
Free during beta. Long-term: a flat operator membership at a fair price — no per-job skim, no commission on the runs you book. Pricing will be public and transparent before any operator gets charged. Shippers always search for free.
Is this affiliated with a big logistics platform?
No. Find Pilot Car Driver is independently built and operated, sister site to Magic Valley Piloting, a working pilot car service in Gooding, Idaho. No VC, no private equity, no big-logistics parent company. The same operator answering the phone for MVP is the person building this.
Will you handle payments or escrow?
Launch focuses on connection — helping shippers find operators and contact them directly. Payment between parties stays direct, the way pilot car work already runs. Escrow and integrated payment processing are on the longer-term roadmap if operators want it; not a launch feature.
I run multiple rigs / a small fleet. Can I list them?
Yes. Fleet listings are supported. One business profile covering multiple vehicles, multiple drivers, multiple service types. Each rig can have its own equipment notes (high-pole, dolly, specific certifications) so shippers know exactly what shows up.
How is this different from existing directories?
Most existing directories are paid-listing static pages that operators don’t update because they get nothing back. Find Pilot Car Driver flips that: real search, real profiles operators maintain themselves, real-time availability, and built by someone in the industry rather than a tech company guessing what the workflow looks like. Plus the cost model doesn’t punish operators per job.
